Quentin Tarantino (*1963)

Quentin Tarantino put himself on the map with the cult favorite RESERVOIR DOGS in 1992. His follow-up PULP FICTION became a cult classic and won an Oscar for Best Screenplay. Tarantino is perhaps the filmmaker who had the most influence on popular cinema in the 1990s. TRUE ROMANCE, NATURAL BORN KILLERS and FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, all based on Tarantino's stories have become instant cult films. His best film as a director may be JACKIE BROWN, although it's a close race with PULP FICTION and RESERVOIR DOGS. Apart from directing and appearing in movies himself, Tarantino has also tried to bring Asian cult movies like IRON MONKEY (1993) to the U.S.A. His favorite film list is as eccentric as himself: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, RIO BRAVO, TAXI DRIVER, HIS GIRL FRIDAY, ROLLING THUNDER, THEY ALL LAUGHED, THE GREAT ESCAPE, CARRIE, COFFY, DAZED AND CONFUSED, FIVE FINGERS OF DEATH and HI DIDDLE DIDDLE! Filmography below omits all "Himself" appearances and some TV cameos.
