Good horror/action yarn set in the jungle, where Schwarzenegger's SWAT team is assigned to retrieve missing politician. When the first team members die, guerilla fighters are suspected. In fact, it's a hideous monster that just dropped onto the Earth. Unexceptional first half outweighed by crackerjack second one, as director McTiernan (DIE HARD) adds suspense to the action. Fine score by Alan Silvestri. Followed by a sequel in 1990.
