Intriguing mystery thriller about family father Carrey, a dog catcher, whose wife Madsen gives him a book for his birthday. The book's main character turns out to be like his alter ego, and soon he is obsessed with the number 23 that seems to be everywhere. A bit convoluted tale but fascinating and stylishly done by director Schumacher, well-acted, too. Written by Fernley Phillips.
