Then Hitch falls in love himself - with beautiful, independent journalist Mendes. Romantic comedy works thanks to surehanded direction by Tennant and a powerhouse performance by Smith. However, it's James who gets the most laughs. Undermined somewhat by superfluous final 15 minutes.
