Jean Rollin (*1938)

French director Jean Rollin put himself on the (cult movie) map with the black-and-white vampire fantasy LE VIOL DE VAMPIRE in 1967. His obsession with vampirism and eroticism led him to make several similarly-themed films from 1969 onwards.
In the mid-seventies Rollin also made several porn movies, no doubt cashing in on the relative commercial success of this disreputable genre. Rollin continued to combine horror and sex elements, gaining himself a cult reputation, despite most of his movies being pure trash.
Rollin is certainly not a gifted storyteller; most of his admirers have learnt to cherish the director's feel for an artful mise-en-scene (plus photography). This filmography does not list the director's hard-core films.
