Robert Rodriguez (*1968)

Quentin Tarantino associate Robert Rodriguez burst onto the movie scene with his acclaimed gangster movie EL MARIACHI (1992), which he filmed on a shoestring budget. He went on to remake it as DESPERADO (1995) and collaborated with Tarantino on the four-part thriller FOUR ROOMS (1995), providing the best of the four episodes. The highpoint of his filmography was about to follow then, as he directed George Clooney and cowriter Quentin Tarantino in the visceral cult horror movie FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (1996). His next film THE FACULTY (1998) was less successful, as it tried to copy the classic INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS storyline into a contemporary high school setting. Recently, Rodriguez has proved very successful at the box office with the SPY KIDS trilogy, which he made mainly so that his own kids could watch his movies. Quentin Tarantino refers to Rodriguez as his "brother" in the closing credits of KILL BILL: VOL.2 (2004).
