The brothers Joel and Ethan Coen are unconventional, offbeat filmmakers, among the best contemporary ones from the U.S. From their first film on, the art-house success BLOOD SIMPLE (1984), they have stunned audiences and critics with stylish, entertaining, often bizarre films. Joel usually directs, while Ethan produces their films. They write the screenplays together. Their best films are RAISING ARIZONA, BARTON FINK, THE HUDSUCKER PROXY and FARGO.
