Richard Brooks (1912-1992)


Richard Brooks started his long career in the early 1940s writing screenplays to some classic films (THE KILLERS, KEY LARGO). In 1950 he made his directorial debut with the thriller drama CRISIS. He is best remembered for his Tennessee Williams adaptations CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF and SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH. Apart from these classics, his best films are THE BLACKBOARD JUNGLE, ELMER GANTRY, IN COLD BLOOD, $ (DOLLARS), and BITE THE BULLET.
