During the early days of World War Two, Jewish judge Ninidze manages to get his wife and daughter from Germany to Kenia. The woman soon feels stuck in this nowhereland, especially since they have lost their wealth and status. Adaptation of Stefan Zweig's novel (by the director herself) is beautiful to look at and quite well-directed but moves at a slow pace and becomes unnecessarily overlong without being compelling or making a point.
